‘An Estimated 50 Million Commonwealth Citizens Have Fallen Into Poverty’, Says Secretary-General
Trinidad & Tobago (Revista E) - The Commonwealth Secretary-General addressed delegates at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Business Forum in Trinidad and Tobago. Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Patrick Manning told delegates that despite the global financial crisis, his country is doing well. The Caribbean twin island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is hosting the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, CHOGM, 2009. The Business Forum, which brings together some 700 governments and business leaders is being held on the cruise liner Serenade of the Seas which is docked in the Trinidad and Tobago capital, Port of Spain. The theme for the three day meeting is ‘Partnering for a More Equitable and Sustainable Future: The Commonwealth and the Americas’. The forum will provide opportunities for policy discussions, networking and partnerships.
